While the past few months since we bought the house have been crazy, we did do a few things other than home repair this summer. For one, we took a trip to California!
We started by flying out to San Francisco for our close friends’ wedding. It took place in a gorgeous park with the reception in her family’s stunning backyard. It was simply beautiful, with lots of fun touches. We had a fantastic time, but unfortunately I don’t have any pictures to share. We were just too busy having a great time. You’ll just have to take my word for it. After partying with them for the weekend, we drove up to Napa to spend a few days relaxing and enjoying California.
On the first day, we were getting ourselves acquainted with the valley and there might have been an occasion where I shrieked and grabbed Rob’s arm, dancing in my seat and pointing out the fact that we were passing Dean & Deluca.
It was just a little bit of heaven inside.
The most beautiful produce,
any kind of candy you could want,
the cutest coffee bar
cupcakes to die for,
and the most amazing chocolates.
And it was all so beautiful. I couldn’t stop taking pictures of everything.
One of everything? Yes please.
Definitely a favorite stop. Perhaps one that we made every day while we were there. They had the most stunning cupcakes.
Lest you think that all we did was eat on the trip, we also saw some cool things.
The Petrified Forest
California’s “Old Faithful” Geyser (which is not half as cool as Yellowstone’s Old Faithful, by the way. Oh well, you win some, you lose some.)
On our way to the coast, we stopped by the Kendall Jackson winery for a visit.
We drove out to the Sonoma Coast and drive up Highway 1 for a bit.
Oh and we ate some more too.
Our second day, we visited some amazing wineries and also ate some more chocolate.
But really, can you blame us?
We stopped by Thomas Keller’s Bouchon bakery for some lunch.
Where I saw none other than Jean-Luc Picard. But, we didn’t want to disrupt his lunch, so we contented ourselves with taking super-far-away pictures so as not to bother him. Yeah, that’s totally him on the phone in the background.
One of the places we went was this awesome tasting room of Hestan Vineyards.
The cool modern look made me think of my brother, Paul.
Then we visited Chateau Boswell to finish off our day.
Our last day in California we drove down to San Francisco for the afternoon to see a few of the required sights.
We had a really great time. Someone else want to get married somewhere cool so we can take another vacation?
