one if by land

Through this process, one thing we’ve noticed is how much of a difference new lighting fixtures makes to a room/house. The right fixture can change a room.

When we were looking for lighting fixtures for the front porch, we fell in love with lanterns. Which alternately make me think of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and the lantern Lucy meets Mr. Tumnus under, or Paul Revere’s ride – “If the British march by land or sea from the town tonight, hang a lantern aloft in the belfry arch of the North Church tower as a signal light – one if by land and two if by sea.” We currently have but one lantern, so I guess we all know what that means.

Here’s the previous light – cute, but too small for the space. See how it’s barely visible next to the door?

And here’s our new lantern.

See how much better it fits the space? It’s also halogen LED so it is much brighter. And, it has a light sensor so that it’s automatically on from dusk to dawn. Not having to remember to turn the light on? Win win!
